How to Take CBD Oil

Lauren Flanagan

CBD stands for Cannabidiol. It is a phytocannabinoid derived from the Hemp plant. CBD, unlike THC, is non-intoxicating, meaning that it does not elicit a "high" feeling. The Oil in our tinctures is made with Broad Spectrum Hemp Extract and all-natural MCT Oil. Broad-Spectrum is the extraction of CBD along with other beneficial cannabinoids and terpenes derived from hemp, excluding THC.

Getting started using an Oil Tincture can feel a bit overwhelming for those new to the CBD world. If you're looking to get started taking CBD Oil, following our step-by-step guide and you will be an expert in no time!

Choose Your Dose

The first step to getting started is finding your ideal CBD dose. We suggest that those new to CBD keep a journal for at least a few weeks. There is no universal standard dose, the perfect dose will vary for everyone. We suggest starting with low dose (around 10mg-25mg per day.) Take your selected dose at about the same time every day and record how you feel. If you don't notice enough relief, try raising your dose after a couple of weeks and record your results.

You do not have to worry about potential adverse effects of CBD Oil.* According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cannabidiol does not appear to have abuse potential or cause harm.

*You should consult with your doctor before taking CBD Oil if you are taking other drugs because it could affect how the other drugs work in your system.

READING THE DROPPER

Our CBD Oil Tinctures comes in three serving sizes: 300mg, 750mg, and 1500mg. All of the tinctures are available in Unflavored or Peppermint. Once you open your bottle you will notice that the dropper has clearly marked lines from 0.25mL-1.0mL. One full dose of each concentration is equivalent to 1.0mL. On the label of each bottle you will find the "mg of CBD per serving".

300mg Tincture: 1mL serving = 10mg

750mg Tincture: 1mL serving = 25mg

1500mg Tincture: 1mL serving = 50mg

The dropper lines will allow you to easily adjust your dose depending on your preference.

Choose Your Method

Once you have selected your CBD Oil flavor and dose there are a few methods to get the oil into your system.

SUBLINGUALLY

Taking CBD sublingually (under your tongue) is the quickest way for the oil to enter your bloodstream. This is because there are mucus membranes under your tongue which absorb the oil most effectively. CBD oil still works if you don't put it directly under your tongue, but taking it sublingually and holding for 30-60 seconds is the fastest way to get it into your system.

IN FOOD/DRINK

Another effective method to ingest CBD is in your food or drinks. CBD can be easily added to dressings, dips, smoothies, cocktails, coffee, or tea. If you are looking to cook with CBD, make sure you stick to recipes that require low heat, we suggest below 320°F. This is because CBD's boiling point is between 320°F and 356°F so cooking "low and slow" will ensure the cannabinoid does not degrade and become less effective.
